The Additive Thinking Workshop is a practical and hands-on approach designed for decision makers and end-users within an enterprise. In an interactive and collaborative manner, participants assess the amenability or ‘fit” of pre-screened components to Metal AM technology based on various technical considerations introduced by Wipro 3D experts.

In the workshop, we jointly identify projects that have a high probability of success as far as adoption of Metal AM is concerned.

The projects identified in these workshops are then at the discretion of the client on whether to execute the same in the Wipro 3D AM Solutions Center, preferably in the presence of the client. Executed projects then become case studies and are used to evangelize metal AM in the client’s organization to increase the adoption of metal AM.

Based on these projects, subsequent steps are planned leading to Enterprise Adoption. Typical participants are from the Technology, Engineering, R&D, Manufacturing, Production Materials, Supply chain/strategic sourcing/procurement functions.

Wipro 3D’s Additive Design and Engineering services are based on a deep understanding of various aspects of the technology such as the energy source and its behaviour, the feedstock and its characterization, the environment in which the interaction between the energy source and feedstock happens, metallurgy, thermal considerations, structures, heat treatment, machining and surface finishing technologies.

Simulation & Validation

Additive Design of components at Wipro 3D is done with a value engineering mindset and a clear focus on tangible business benefits through technology intervention. Buildability, repeatability, functional performance, prove-out requirements and ”productionization” are key drivers of component design or redesign.

Technical design is counterbalanced with commercial viability and a best-fit design is selected, with complete collaboration with our customers.

Topology optimization, monolithising child parts, reduction of joints, redoing flow paths, feature alterations, or simplification of features for faster turn around times.

All options are discussed, keeping in mind lifecycle costs, and post-processing complexities. Wipro 3D’s Design offerings are offered either as a standalone service, as a part of the complete component realization solution or as part of our entire adaption services.

Simulation & Digital Validation of designs is offered as a bundled service along with Additive Engineering.

Wipro 3D offers a complete suite of manufacturing services based on a strong quality framework. The services range from prototypes right up to production runs of metal components, in a contract manufacturing arrangement for global customers.

This includes a capability to deliver the complete “Select to Prove” lifecycle in both prototyping and production runs. Material characterization, Deposition prove-outs, Test bar / Coupon prove-out and finally Component prove-outs, are regular practices at Wipro 3D.
